‘E.T. II: Nocturnal Fears’ Saw a Script but No Production. Read the Entire Script from Steve Spielberg.

et-sequel

E.T. was the biggest movie of all time when it was released in 1982, further lifting Steven Spielberg to the heights of a box office gold director. Turns out, Spielberg was not going to stop there when it came to is touching story about a boy who befriends an alien. E.T. II: Nocturnal Fears was written, but never made.

The story of the sequel takes quite a drastic turn from the predecessor, which is made apparent in the title. The story would revolve around Elliot and his friends getting abducted by aliens that were not the friendly aliens like E.T. They then would desperately try to contact those friendly aliens, but not without going through a nightmare with these evil aliens. I guess E.T. is not a strong character in the script neither, so you can kind of see why they did not go forward in making the follow-up. Spielberg even mentioned that the story would, “do nothing but rob the original of its virginity.” Well said, but you got to wonder now that it is over 30 years later, will they ever touch bases with the story again? Time will tell. If you want to read the entire script, just click the link below.
