Independence Day 2 Gets Pushed to 2016

2015 is definitely going to be a movie nerd out kind of year. If you look at the slew of blockbusters slated for that year, you almost get weak in the knees. Independence Day 2 was one of those movies, which of course was going to be released July 3rd of that year. 20th Century Fox decided to rearrange their movie releases, and pushed the sequel to July 1st, 2016.

Roland Emmerich recently mentioned that they have two versions of the script. One with Will Smith, and one without. I guess it depends on the ego that is Will Smith, since he is the only not confirmed to return. 20th Century Fox has also moved the Fantastic Four reboot to March 4th, 2015, and Assassin’s Creed to August 7th, 2015.

Independence Day 2 will have some Angry Birds to compete with since that is the only movie announced for that time in 2016. Kind of disappointed I have to wait another year for the sequel, but hopefully with the added time they will make an awesome flick.
