American Hustle brings, Batman, Lois Lane, Hawkeye, Mystique, and the Racket Raccoon, all together in a film that has some true star power. Loosely based on a true story, David O. Russell tells us the story about con men, being forced into conning other con men, but are also being conned. Have I lost you yet?
Besides my brief description of the movie sounding confusing, this film is truly what American cinema is all about. You have so much acting talent coming together, and every single one of them are at the top of their games. There is a reason why we keep hearing all the Oscar buzz about this movie.
Christian Bale yet again transforms himself into this character, by gainingg a bunch of weight, and that comb over is a character in and of itself. Amy Adams has never been this good, and she has never been this sexy. I always thought of her as cute, but after seeing the revealing dresses she wears in this movie, she was in my thoughts later that night. Of course Jennifer Lawrence was gorgeous in the movie too, but her performance as Bale’s eccentric wife, just shows you the acting talent she has, and why she won that Academy Award last year. Jeremy Renner was also the best I have ever seen him in this movie, playing the good hearted mayor that really just wanted his city to flourish, but had to do so in not so legal ways.
Then we get to Bradley Cooper, who I actually think was my favorite character of the whole thing. He was so unstable scene by scene, you didn’t know how he was going to be every time they showed him. Some of his reactions to certain events were hysterical, and that goes for the whole movie. This movie has non-stop funny moments, and the script was truly fine-tuned with some great dialogue.
So I highly suggest checking out this movie guys. Some of it might seem to get confusing at some points, but it all wraps up very nicely. Check out my video review below, and also let me know if you saw the movie already.
