Scarlett Johansson Claims Avengers 2 Script is ‘Dark and Dry’

Scarlett Johansson has has been getting a lot of praise lately, for being the voice of the OS Samantha in the movie Her. As much as we love that slightly raspy voice of hers, we love her more when she is kicking bad guy ass as the Black Widow in the Avengers movies. She will return as agent Natasha Romanoff in Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4th, but Scarlett recently sat down with Parade and mentioned the Avengers sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron. She mentions she has just received the script for Avengers 2, and gave some of her thoughts about it.

I think the script is dark and it’s dry,” she says. “It has got this amazing one-liner, glass-cutting sense of humor. Obviously, the script is very cerebral. It doesn’t lose that exciting comic book aspect that people enjoyed in the first film, but it’s smart and it feels like the next installment. It doesn’t feel like a rehashing. It feels like these characters are moving forward. Plot lines are moving forward. It’s deep and I think that’s why people really respond to the Marvel Universe, because the films are fun and exciting and have all that flashy stuff, but there’s a gravity to them. People can expect that gravity this time around.

When she mentioned the word “dry” I thought the script lacked the humor the first one had, and got sort of worried about it. But of course Whedon wouldn’t let that be the case, and I can’t wait to see where he takes this world he helped create. Avengers 2 will be out in theaters May 1st, 2015, and tell me how excited you are for it.
