That Awkward Moment – Film Review

thatawkwardmoment-moviereview

That Awkward Moment…of course stars Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordan, and Miles Teller, and it tells the story of three best friends who decide to form a pact to stay single when Jordan’s character gets divorced. They then embark on a journey of casual sex…and that is about it. But of course, while on this journey of plugging as many holes as they possibly can, they begin to develop feelings for certain girls, in which they start deflecting the terms of their pact.

This movie is full of cliches, and full of stupidity. I didn’t enjoy this movie at all, and it really all has to do with writer/director, Tom Gormican. He actually co-produced a movie that was on many critic’s WORST list of 2013, and that movie was Movie 43. The script is terrible, and just follows the same tired formula that we see in movies like this. I will give the three actors credit, they did their very best with the material that was handed to them, and had pretty good chemistry. The played off each other very well, but the dialogue they had to spit out was just hard to digest, and the entire story was supposed be a story about what guys think of when it comes to relationships. It isn’t, and if anyone can relate to this movie 100%, well I feel sorry for you.

This movie is essentially Sex in the City for guys, which a lot of critics are murmuring out there. But I really couldn’t relate to these guys at all, simply because they were idiots. I mean they would end every scene with the three leads with them insulting each other. It got tiring when that happened, and I couldn’t believe that a movie called “That Awkward Moment” didn’t have many “awkward moments”.

I don’t recommend this flick, but I can see it maybe being a tolerable date movie if you guys are so inclined. Check out my video review where I got more into detail about how I hated this movie. I just wish these three talented actors had more to work with. Let me know if you saw it, and what you thought of it.
