The best Commissioner Gordon that we have seen on the big screen thus far, Gary Oldman, was asked about Batman Vs. Superman and the controversy behind the casting of Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight in a recent interview with E! Online promoting the RoboCop remake.
He’s got a hard cowl to climb into because I thought Christian had made such a signature on it. But Ben is a wonderful actor, so I’m intrigued to see what he does.
Indeed he does, and then he answered that familiar question about the backlash of the Affleck casting.
All that stuff is always crazy. If you listen to the fans all the time we wouldn’t have remade RoboCop, no one would have made Batman. Ben will do fine. I think he’ll do fine.
Same old song and dance. I want an actor to flat out say, “he’s going to butcher it! Why oh why?!?!” Just because it would be funny to hear something different. But as entertainers, you can’t please everyone.
