Wolverine 3 is Probably Going to be Hugh Jackman’s Last Wolverine Movie

Here we go again with news about an actor talking about retiring his superhero role he made famous. Hugh Jackman has talked about hanging up his metal claws a few months ago, but he was very humble about it, where basically he just stated that eventually the role would have to be recast. In a new interview with SFX, he talks about Wolverine 3, and then starts talking about how the sequel will most likely be the last time he will play the character. I’ll leave you time to grab a tissue.

I don’t know yet. We’re talking it through. I still am very ambitious for the character. And tonally I feel like we corrected the ship with the last one. But I feel we can still go further, in a way. If I did another one I’m 99.9% sure it would be the last, so that will inform what it is for me.

He then talks about which storyline they are looking at for Wolverine 3. The “Old Man Logan” storyline seems to be grabbing him and James Marigold, but they are still looking at other story options as well.

Of course we’re looking at Old Man Logan, because that may be the only option left at this point! [laughs] We are looking at a lot of different storylines. No one has jumped out. You can tell from my answer that we’re still working it out.

The only problem they will have going with the Old Man Logan story, is the fact that there are many characters owned by Marvel Studios in it, so fans probably will not like the fact that drastic changes will have to be made.

So let me know your thoughts about Jackman passing the claws down to another. It is extremely difficult to see anyone else play that role, but someone will have to do it.
