Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange Gets ‘Sinister’ Director

Marvel Studios has their director for the slightly unknown superhero, Doctor Strange, but the actor playing the lead role is still up in the air. Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Exorcism of Emily Rose) will direct this Phase Three movie, but the real question is: who will play Doctor Strange? Johnny Depp has been long rumored to play the role, but do we really need some half-assed version of Jack Sparrow to take on this role? I like Depp, but lately it just seems like he isn’t really trying anymore. Jared Leto is the new name that is rumored to be eyed for the role, but that is just not logical. Leto quit the movie biz for six years before coming back and grabbing that Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club. He has talked about how he didn’t like the movie biz, so why the hell would he sign a multi-picture deal to play a superhero?

Doctor Strange has yet to get a release date, but everyone is speculating that it will release some time in 2017. Some of you probably caught the little name drop Easter Egg in Captain America 2, when they mentioned people they were watching with certain abilities, and they named Stephen Strange. Should be an interesting character to see brought to the big-screen.
