I think it was a few years ago when I heard that Hollywood was going to bring the famous TV cop show, CHiPS, to the big screen. I kept hearing that Wilmer Valderrama was wanting to play Ponch in the movie adaptation, which we can all agree is just a big fat no. Well now the CHiPS movie is finally moving forward, with Dax Shepard at the helm, as well as starring alongside Michael Pena as Ponch.
There was a brief moment not too long ago where old 70’s TV shows seem to be the big thing in Hollywood, with the successes of Starsky &Hutch, and the Dukes of Hazard. There were then rumors of CHiPS and Magnum PI being brought to the big screen with the same kind of slapstick humor as Hutch and Dukes, but sadly, those movies never made it, and sequels to the movies were thrown out the window as well.
Maybe this CHiPS movie will see the return of 70s TV shows, but I highly doubt it. Let me know your thoughts about the movie.
