5 Things that Hurt Batman v Superman Before its Release

5 Things that Hurt Batman v Superman Before its… by filmjunkee

Batman v Superman is now in our lives and it’s definitely a mixed bag out there when it comes to people responding to this movie. There’s a clear divide between critics and fans causing much hate to be thrown around from both sides.  But say what you want about the movie itself, some of the decisions made from the get go were not the best decisions. So that’s what we’re going to look at, and of course, this is just my opinion. Either watch the video below or give a read below.

  1. Titling it Batman v Superman

After seeing the movie I think we can all agree that the “v” in this movie is probably about 30% of the movie. This goes back to Warner Bros. announcing this movie 3 years before they really knew what they wanted to do. Warner tried to back pedal on the vs. narrative by removing the S out of VS and adding the Dawn of Justice subtitle. It didn’t fool us, and everyone was still excited and pumped for a movie about these characters fighting each other. After seeing the final product, I think if they titled it “Batman & Superman: Dawn of Justice” we all would’ve been okay with it given the movie. Hell, calling it “Batman & Superman: World’s Finest” would’ve caused many to masterbate to the title change.

  1. The Trailers

Sadly nowadays, these companies can’t help but show too much in their trailers for their big movies. We’ve cried many times for Hollywood to stop giving us the dick pic and just a tease us with it. The first full-length trailer was all we needed to be on board with this movie. Even just the teaser trailer was all we needed, because it hyped us about the fight and it didn’t show any of the other characters. The first full-length trailer is where they definitely should’ve stopped though. That trailer caused pants to drop all around the world by keeping the fight narrative and giving us glimpses of Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor. The second full-length trailer is where it became obvious that Warner Bros. made the bad decision of getting people hyped up for this battle. They wanted to show everyone that this movie is setting the stage for the Justice League and also showed us Doomsday. Even though most of us knew all this was going to happen, it still shouldn’t have been shown. A lot of people chose not to see this movie after they saw this trailer.

  1. The Three-Year Hype

After Warner Bros. and DC announced this movie in a perfect way at Comic Con in 2013 and the hype for this movie grew to extreme levels as time went on. A three-year build up can make for huge disappointments as we’ve seen by some reviews. There would’ve been no problem with this if they knew exactly what they wanted to do from the beginning but this announcement was obviously made before they knew exactly what they wanted to do with their universe. So yeah, guys. Warner Bros. blew their superhero wad early. Premature ejaculation isn’t a good thing.

  1. Revealing Justice League Cameos and Looking Ahead

Now the average moviegoer probably didn’t know they were going to get glimpses of The Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman, but us in this movie world knew it was coming from casting news and them simply telling us we were going to see them. Keeping these cameos a mystery would’ve been a nice little treat for comicbook fans, but there was a whole special on all the characters called “Dawn of the Justice League” shown on TV that was amazing but I wondered why are they showing this now. This is something that could’ve been shown after the movie was released to look ahead and not take away from this movie.

  1. Defending Man of Steel

The end of Man of Steel became a controversial topic due to all the damage and casualties from the Krytonian invasion. I still wonder why given that that’s been shown over and over again in the books, and well, nobody really died.  Regardless, I guess the Man of Steel should’ve been a little more careful when fighting even though it was his first fight. This caused a three year debate where Snyder, Cavill, and crew were still being asked the destruction question when promoting Batman v Superman  and they were still defending it. How many times are they going to have to say the same thing? A simple “ it will be addressed” is really all they needed to say.
