Vince Gilligan Gives us some Info on Breaking Bad Spin-off, ‘Better Call Saul’

Better-Call-Saul

Breaking Bad has come to an end, and the only hope we have for any new show to come close to its caliber, is the spin-off that was announced a month before the finale, Better Call Saul. Breaking Bad fans are all loving the idea of Saul getting his own show, and Vince Gilligan recently spoke out about their plans for the show.

There’s obviously a danger inherent in doing a spinoff, but I just love the character of Saul Goodman [Bob Odenkirk] so much, and part of me doesn’t want to say no to this world.

I guess Better Call Saul was going to be more of a half hour sitcom at first, but then Gilligan and his associates decided that they needed that hour long drama.

We’re both one-hour drama guys, so we figured, ‘Why not shoot Saul in the same way?’ Let’s shoot it in Albuquerque, let’s get as much of the crew back together as possible, and let’s do it the way we did it before so that it will be of a piece with that pre-existing fictional universe that we had so much fun creating.

There was also mention about a comparison between the spin-off and Breaking Bad itself, stating how Breaking Bad was 75 percent dramatic and 25 comedic. Better Call Saul will be the opposite, so expect more laughs from the fast talking lawyer.

Personally, I’d have a hard time resisting putting all these guys in for a cameo or two every now and then.

Did that make you tingle? That is Gilligan answering the question on all our mines; since the spin-off takes place before the events in BB, will anyone make a cameo? Be funny to see random other characters show up unexpectedly. I would imagine Mike will have to be in a few episodes, since his and Saul’s relationship was established before the BB story. Let me know what you guys think about all this.
