X-Men: Days of Future Past, will bring together some of the old and some of the new. Obviously we got a taste of the younger versions of the characters that were already popular in movies in X-Men First Class, but now that time travel is a key element in the sequel, we are going to get a taste both worlds. One in particular character that has been there since the first movie, is Rogue, played by Anna Paquin. Rogue was going to be present in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but only in a very small piece of the movie. Now it seems that we will not be seeing her in the next movie at all.
Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.
That was from director Bryan Singer, and sometimes you have to make those tough decisions when it comes to the editing process. If the scene isn’t working for the movie, then so be it. Luckily with Blu-ray/DVD releases, they can add the deleted scenes for everyone to see. so it’s not a total waste of film. Paquin still might return for the 2016 sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse, but next yea we will not see her.
