Looks like the other side of Marvel might join the Avenger-like game in the movies. Seems there is a rumor that Fox wants to bring the Fantastic Four and X-Men together, in a no holds bar, mutant war. This rumor comes from the investing site, The Motley Fool, who talks about how Marvel sold off the movie rights to a few of their characters before Disney snatch them up. So sadly, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and the X-Men, can’t join in the Avenger world. Not like they really needed to anyways.
Since The Avengers was a huge success, DC is already working like crazy to get their world of superheroes in an orgy of film awesomeness, so why not have the other part of Marvel join the game.
There was a comic book issue released in 1987 (shown above), that placed both the Fantastic Four and X-Men together against each other, so obviously they will reference that story. That story involves the X-Men against the Four due to the Four’s origin for some reason. Should be rather interesting, given that there are a slew of X-Men, and only four of…well you know their name.
None of this has been confirmed of course, but I have no doubt in my mind they will move forward with this. The Fantastic Four reboot is already set for a June 19, 2015 release, so if it does do well in the box office, this will definitely happen. X-Men: Apocalypse will see a May 27, 2016 release, so we could see this match up come 2017. Let me know your thoughts about this.
