For those of you that are not familiar with the Ant-Man mythos, Ant-Man is not just one man apparently. There is actually three different Ant-Men, and there will be at least two in the upcoming flick. Hank Pym is the first Ant-Man, and everyone assumed when Paul Rudd was cast, he would be that character. Well we have come to find out that Michael Douglas will be playing the Hank Pym alter-ego, and Paul Rudd will be playing the Scott Lang alter-ego.
According to the Ant-Man mythos, Pym is the inventor of the particles that can alter a human’s size, so he then of course becomes Ant-Man. Scott Lang is a thief who steals the Ant-Man suit to save his daughter, and then decides to change his thief ways to become the full-time Ant-Man, with encouragement from Pym. So this was a bit of surprise in the Marvel universe. Not only will we be getting one Ant-Man, but TWO. And if any of you are worried that too much is going on in this story, just relax yourself. Edgar Wright is a genius, and Michael Douglas is a legend, so no worrying over here on the Film Junkee side. Let me know your thoughts about this though.
