When you ask the general public about who their favorite actor that portrayed Batman is, I think more people belt out, Michael Keaton! It is a toss up between him and Christian Bale, and I think Bale’s Batman voice is what makes people choose Keaton over him. In my opinion, Bale exudes the complete double personality of Batman and Bruce Wayne, but Keaton really had a strong Batman, given that he was not the obvious choic for the Dark Knight.
One of the difficulties every actor who has dawned the cape and cowl had, was the rubber batsuit. Every one of them has their own personal horror story when it comes to wearing the iconic batsuit, all except Adam West. He had it easy compared to the actors now. The 1989 Batman shined new light on the batsuit, just because they decided to use all black rubber, instead of the blue and grey tights. In a press junket for the upcoming remake, RoboCop, Keaton talks about the difficulties of wearing that suit. This was obviously after a question was given to RoboCop actor, Joel Kinnaman, about how the RoboCop suit was to wear.
Keaton talks about the infamous Batman turn, that he started and each actor had to master, simply because you couldn’t turn your head. It wasn’t until The Dark Knight, when Nolan put an end to the Bat stiff neck, when they designed a suit that allowed Bale to move his neck. It is a pretty funny little anecdote, so check it out friends.
