We finally have our answer to who Dwayne Johnson will be playing in the DC Universe. Black Adam! Wait…he has to say that other name. Shazam! Johnson confirmed his role as Black Adam in the Shazam! movie today on Twitter, and I think we can all agree it’s a fitting character.
There also has been word that the Shazam! movie might not tie in to the Justice League Universe. The reason for this is the fact that Warner Bros. is not distributing the movie, but New Line Cinema will, and Entertainment Weekly spoke to president Toby Emmerich who had this to say about the movie:
It feels to me like Shazam will have a tone unto itself. It’s a DC comic, but it’s not a Justice League character, and it’s not a Marvel comic. The tone and the feeling of the movie will be different from the other range of comic book movies.
Interesting. Would be kind of pointless if the character wasn’t involved in the DC Cinematic Universe, but I’m still looking forward to seeing the movie and how they play the characters. Let me know your thoughts.
