The first Men in Black black movie was easily my favorite movie of that year, and was excited to see the franchise continue with the sequel. Sadly I was quite disappointed in the sequel, and simply lost interest in anymore movies. Men in Black 3 brought a nice little twist, bringing in Josh Brolin to play a young Kay. Sadly, I didn’t find it all that great either. Better than the second, but still pretty bad and cheesy.
Think about the 3 movies. The first one was a fresh idead, and although it’s an out there idea, they held back the cheese and made an entertaining alien movie. The second got fla out ridiculous, with the third following in the same path. Now it seems that a new trilogy is in development from the original team, and it looks like Will Smith won’t be a apart of it.
THR: You produced Men in Black. Has there been talk of reviving that franchise with the new Sony regime?
Parkes: We’re in the middle of it. It’s very active.
THR: Is Will Smith going to be part of it?
Parkes: Most likely no.
MacDonald: It will be reinvented as a trilogy.
The leaked sony emails suggested that there was going to be a 21 Jump Street/Men in Black crossover. Most likely that won’t happen, so let’s make a more serious Men in Black movie
