Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set to hit theaters on April 4th, and while talking about Disney’s first quarter earnings on a webcast, CEO Robert A. Iger spoke about the next Phase two film, and how it will set the events for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Not like that is HUGE news when it comes to the Avengers universe, but he did stress that it leads DIRECTLY into the Avengers sequel, so we might see some cameos in Captain America 2.
I’ve really been impressed with the early buzz that we’re seeing for the Marvel films. Captain America 2 is just huge and it takes the Captain America story to incredible new levels. Now, we’re already in the marketplace with some marketing, but it’s been relatively limited. We had a pre-game for instance in the Super Bowl. And yet the interest in Captain America films, which comes out April 4 here in the states, seems much louder than it would be for what I would call a non-branded film.
That’s Robert A. Iger talking about the buzz around Captain America 2, simply because it looks fantastic from the trailers we have gotten. There was also mention that Captain America 2 will tie-in with ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., similar to how Thor: The Dark World did. The agents will probably have to perform some kind of clean-up from the events of the sequel, which a lot of fans of the Marvel universe really didn’t like too much when it tied into Thor 2.
