Zack Snyder Talks Dark Knight Returns Influence and Ben Affleck Casting for Batman Vs. Superman

If you guys didn’t see it; when Zack Snyder announced the Man of Steel sequel at Comic Con last year, he did so in a Dark Knight Returns manner. A quote was pulled right out of the graphic novel that was said by actor Harry Lennix, then the lights dimmed and the Batman Vs. Superman logo showed up on the screen. Nerd boners started growing everywhere.

Obviously since he used a line out of The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel, we all figured that it would be a heavy influence on the sequel. Snyder recently told a French magazine called Popcorn that very notion.

The comic book will influence the history of Batman vs. Superman, on which the writer David S. Goyer and myself will work.

He then spoke up about casting Ben Affleck for the role of the Dark Knight.

Ben brings an interesting counterweight to the performance of Henry in the role of Superman. He has the experience necessary to paint the picture of an older and more advised man than Clark Kent, who bears the scars of a seasoned vigilante while retaining the charm that Bruce Wayne deploys when present in the world.

Nothing really new to what he already said about Affleck before, but its always nice to her a director enthusiastic about his work. We still have to wait until May 6th, 2016, but as long as we see that batsuit soon, we will all be okay.
