Harrison Ford Confirms Talks to Return for Blade Runner 2

There are so many movies out there that fans have begged for a follow-up on, and for some reason they just do not happen until years later. Blade Runner is definitely one of those classics that just seemed right for a sequel. There have been rumors for years that a sequel to Blade Runner was going to hit the big screen, and that Harrison Ford would return as Rick Deckard. 35 years is not that long for a sequel, right?

In a recent interview where Ford was plugging his new movie, Ender’s Game, Ford addressed that he has in fact been in talks for the sequel with Ridley Scott. Here is what he had to say:

Yeah, we’ve been chatting about it. I remember [the first film] with ‘complication’. But I’m not there to generate nostalgic moments, I’m there to do a job of work. I quite understand that everyone has an ambition when they come into a film and everyone’s ambition may not be so focused on the same thing.

I guess on the set of the original Blade Runner, Ford and Scott had some differences, and it ended up being a difficult process to get the film done. This could possibly be the root of the reason on why the sequel has taken this long to see the light of day.

I truly admire Ridley as a man and as a director, and I would be very happy to engage again with him in the further telling of this story.

Guess they buried the hatchet after all these years. According to Ridley Scott, the sequel would have a female lead, so Ford’s character would most likely be a mentor of some sorts. I don’t know. They could do so much nowadays with this concept, as long as they keep that dark, gritty feel of the future like they captured back in 1982. If the film does end up getting made, it probably will not see a release until 2019. Seems so far away, and that would almost be 40 years after the original. Least they are not doing a remake, right? Let me know what you guys thin about this.
