A Peter Pan Origin story…I’m sorry make that TWO Peter Pan origin stories are in the works at the moment, and one of them might see Joe Wright (Hanna, Atonement) as the director. This origin story has yet to see a title, but there is already another Peter Pan origin story being developed by Columbia Pictures, and Produced by Channing Tatuum and Joe Roth, called Neverland. That is pretty much the reason I am writing about this, because I do not get why there needs to be two.
Now it isn’t like this has not happened before in movies. We have seen are share of movies with the same basic idea, but drawn out in different ways. Armageddon and Deep Impact, Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down, Hollywood always seems to have these similar movies released within a year of each other. So now we are getting two Peter Pan Origin stories, which seems a bit odd, but I guess I should not make stabs at the whole thing until both movies are released.
Let me know what you think about this. Like I said, we have had duplicate movies in the past, but this is a character we have known for a long time, and having two origin stories seems like a bad idea to me.
