Move over Twilight, Katniss and Peeta have now taken the pedestal for biggest opening weekend in November. Hunger Games Catching Fire hit $70.5 Million from Thursday night and Friday sales and didn’t stop until it hit $161.1 million for the weekend. The anticipated sequel now takes the coveted position as best opening in November that was originally held by Twilight: New Moon, that opened with $142.8 million. Catching Fire also now joins the top 5 best opening weekend of all time behind The Avengers, Iron Man 3, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2.
For those that didn’t want to see the book adaptation, you had the choice to watch Vince Vaughn be all Vince Vaughn in Delivery Man. Vince only raked in $8.2 million which just comes to show you that you should not release a comedy with a huge blockbuster. Those movies really don’t stand a chance, and it has already happened a couple times this year. Here is the top 10 list for the weekend:
- Hunger Games: Catching Fire – $161.1 million
