Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues – Film Review

Ron Burgundy and the Channel 4 news team is back in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, and this time they are taking on the world. It took 9 years for us to get a sequel, but it is finally here, so let the laughter begin.

We catch up with Ron Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone about 6 years after the first story, where they are married and have a child together. They are both anchors for a popular network news channel, but after a big job is given to Veronica and not Ron, the two break off the marriage, and Ron spirals downward. He is then approached by someone who tells him that they want to start a 24 hour news channel, so Ron gets the news team back together.

Anchorman 2 is hilarious, and if you liked the first movie, then you will definitely like the sequel. The stupidity level has been increased, and do not think that is a bad thing whatsoever. These 4 actors just have such excellent chemistry with each other, and you can tell that a lot of what they said was improv. It just makes me wonder just how hard it was to keep a straight face while shooting these scenes. Sometimes you can tell they are holding back laughter, and it just makes you wonder how they even got through these scenes finished. I think Steve Carell’s character, Brick, had the best lines of the movie. When him and Kristen Wiig were together on screen, it was non-stop laughter, and constant head tilting because you asked, “what did they just say?”

The plot of the movie is actually pretty good amongst all the hilarity. It pokes fun on how news is given these days, and it reminds me why I don’t care to watch it. I guarantee you will laugh at all the different pokes they make to how the news is now.

My only real gripe about the movie (which I forgot to mention in my video review) is the fact that it is a little too long in length. It is 2 hours long, which is probably about 20 minutes too long, and it is really all due to where they take Ron’s character. It gets a little serious, even though there are still funny moments within the seriousness, but I can see people not really caring for this event that happens. It is saved though, when a slew of celebrity cameos show up for yet another news team battle.

So if you loved the first Anchorman, you will love the sequel. I went in with a certain expectation, and the movie exceeded that expectation. Check out my video review below to hear me talk so greatly about. Also let me know what you thought of it if you already saw it.
