Bill & Ted 3 might be one of those titles you never thought would come about. Personally, I loved the 2 other movies as a kid, but now that I am older, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey had to be one of the stupidest movies ever made. The first movie though, is a classic 80s movie that I will always love, but the shear thought of a third movie coming out 20 years later, just doesn’t sound like something that is going to work. Especially since Keanu Reeves has secured himself a nice little acting career after those movies.
Reeves sat down recently promoting 47 Ronin, and the question arose about Bill & Ted 3. He mentioned that it is ready to go, they are just looking for financing for the sequel.
Yeah, there’s a story; there’s a script. We’re trying to get the dough together to make this crazy story. I can talk about it, but I shouldn’t talk about it. They do indeed evolve.
Alex Winter back in November, actually confirmed there ready to go, even though Reeves was thinking it wasn’t going to happen. To me, it seemed like Reeves was not excited about playing Ted Logan again, but then he had this to say about playing Ted at 50.
I’m open to the idea of that. I think it’s pretty surreal, playing Bill & Ted at 50. But we have a good story in that. You can see the life and joy in those characters, and I think the world can always use some life and joy.
It’s one of those; it’s going to be awesome, or it will be a pleasurable disaster, scenarios. I would love to see what they do with Bill & Ted being 50 years old. Sad that we won’t see Rufus, who played by the late great George Carlin, but maybe they will introduce another character to help them on this new journey.
Bill & Ted 3 is set to be directed by Dean Parisot (Reds 2, Fun with Dick and Jane), and if it does get the financing it needs, I bet we can add it to the sequel list of 2015. Reeves was also asked about being present in the Point Break remake that is supposedly in the works, in which he said he is not associated with it whatsoever. Let me know your thoughts about this.
