Rumors of a Halo live-action movie surfaced a few years ago, and gamers out there both creamed in their pants, or trolled hard about the notion of a movie. Neill Blomkamp went through quite an ordeal trying to get the project going. Blomkamp has then since made such sci-fi classics as District 9, and Elysium, and considered the whole situation a learning experience. Well now a reliable source over at Latino Review surfaced some information that Blomkamp is back to direct the live-action version of the popular video game. Only this time it is a TV pilot.
Now all this is just a rumor, but it seems that Neill Blomkamp is set to direct the live-action Halo TV pilot, which sounds like a pretty risky TV show. The shear magnitude of Halo seems like it would need a hefty movie blockbuster budget. But who am I to project my opinion on what Hollywood does with adaptations? Blomkamp is obviously the man for the job, since he directed the Halo short films, and let’s face facts; Elysium had some pretty close similarities to the shoot em’ up video game.
Blomkamp’s next flick is another sci-fi flick called Chappie. It is due out in 2015, so if anymore information about this Halo TV pilot surfaces, I will do my best to get it out to you.
