Here is a remake that definitely won’t have the same tone as the original. The Birds remake has been on the drawing board for quite awhile now, and now Universal finally is going to move forward with it and they grabbed a director.
Diederik Van Rooijen will direct the Hitchcock remake, and pulling up his filmography, he hasn’t really done anything I’ve watched. Foreign films and TV shows he has under his belt. It is going to be very difficult for this guy to try to create the tone Alfred Hitchcock did, which he shouldn’t because no one can. If you guys haven’t seen the original Birds movie, it is simply a haunting tale about birds of many species going a little crazy, and attacking a small town. There was a sequel made in the ’90s, but it didn’t capture the the essence of Hitchcock, and I doubt the remake will either.
The Birds remake is still in development so no word on a release date. Michael Bay plans on producing so, yay. Hopefully the birds don’t transform into super birds.
