Arnold continues on as the badass old guy streak in the movie Sabotage, from acclaim director David Ayer (Training Day, End of Watch). This time around we have Arnold leading highly skilled DEA team that makes a huge drug bust that sees a bunch of cash claimed, but some of that cash goes missing. Shortly after, the team starts being picked off one by one, and it is up to Arnold and his crew to figure out who is behind all the killings. They soon start looking within themselves, and the movie progresses on in a who done it gore fest.
Was really looking forward to this movie, and I am sad to say I was a little disappointed. Right off the bat, you get to see how this team works, as they perform this crazy drug bust, but you come to realize that they are just a bunch of obnoxious assholes. I felt like I should be rooting for these guys, but sadly I was more annoyed by them than anything. But once the story sees the first one of them getting killed, I started getting more engaged into the story. I did like David Ayer’s style of directing, especially telling a couple aspects of the story, in which he utilized an unconventional method of telling those parts. The problems I kept having with the flick is that it didn’t keep me engaged in the story, and there were certain twists revealed that were executed very poorly.
Overall I wouldn’t say Sabotage was a terrible film, just mediocre at best. The gore and action were shot very well, which just shows you that Ayer knows how to direct that type of movie. I just felt that the story didn’t stay consistent, and some of the performances were pretty bad at times. Let me know if you checked this flick out, and what you thought about it.
