The Expendables 3 brings back our childhood action stars as they go on another adventure dodging bullets, and killing those bad guys. This time around, they bring in Wesley Snipes, Kelsey Grammer, Antonio Banderas, and Harrison Ford. They take on Mel Gibson who was once good friends with Stallone. They in fact started this whole Expendables thing, so there is a little bit of bad blood between them. The usual action ensues, but this time it is PG-13
We all know going into this movie that we’re not going to get and award winning flick. These are guys we grew up watching, and for the most part, they are having fun still kicking ass, and making fun of themselves. Does the PG-13 hurt this movie? A little, but not too bad. I did miss the blood, and CGI was used a lot in this movie that didn’t look all that great, but the action was still there.
The characters do their normal things, and the additions to Snipes and Banderas was nice to see. Snipes was Snipes, and Banderas, I thought provided some great comic relief. Ford is always a pleasure to see on screen, and the young ones held their own, even with the bad acting. Gibson played the villain pretty perfectly actually, and I would say he’s the best villain in the entire franchise.
Overall it’s just another good time at the movies with these guys, but it isn’t something to rush out and see. If you enjoyed the others, odd are you will enjoy this one. Check out my video review below where I try my best not to do impressions of some of the stars. Let me know if you saw the movie.
