Sebastian Stan Fires Back at Zack Snyder Ant-Man Comment and Fanboys Run Rampant

Oye. That’s how I started this post. With an “oye”. If you are looking at your feeds, you are seeing the word “beef” a lot probably, and when I saw all this come about earlier today it made my hangover headache worse. Sebastian Stan in a recent interview fired back at Zack Snyder’s comments about Ant-Man being a “flavor of the week” type of superhero movie. A comment that was taken severely out of context.

It goes to the mythological nature of the movies that we’re making.I feel like he’s right. But I feel like Batman and Superman are transcendent of superhero movies in a way, because they’re Batman and Superman. They’re not just, like, the flavor of the week Ant-Man—not to be mean, but whatever it is. What is the next Blank-Man?

Now what Snyder was getting at, is that yes, he agrees with Spielberg that the superhero genre will go away eventually. But he’s dealing with two iconic characters that EVERYONE knows about. How many knew there was an Ant-Man before the movie? I’m sure many of you comicbook nerds did, but the general public? Nope. Everyone knows who Batman and Superman are, and Snyder is bringing both of those characters to the big screen, and pinning them against each other. That’s quite a task folks. He wasn’t trying to be mean, but he was trying to make a point. Maybe it did come out wrong, but Sebastian Stan’s response was a directly aimed at Snyder.

Yeah, I’m sitting here and I’m listening to you and I’m thinking, “Do I want to fire some shots at DC right now, at Zack Snyder?” I read some of those comments where he said something about Batman and Superman, I can’t remember where I read that, somewhere… Something about, “It’s not going to be your flavor-of-the-week Ant-Man.” And I was like, “Oh thanks, Zack. That’s great. Way to do something original.” But I would say we’re still making something very original in our own way. I mean, the Russos are coming in and taking something people are used to and they’re shaping it up and changing it in a very different way. They’re not trying to mimic a better Christopher Nolan movie or something like that.

Taken a little bit too much to heart Stan, and he wasn’t even talking about a movie you were in. I’m sure Stan was just shooting out a joke, but the fanboys are running with it, and now the DC vs. Marvel war has been refueled.

There’s no “beef” here guys. You want beef? Go to Arby’s. Got to Chippendale’s. Let’s not continue the DC vs. Marvel war. Let’s just enjoy the movies these creative people are making, and take in that flesh is being wrapped around our favorite superheroes we grew up with.
