The surprising death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman plagued a movie franchise in the way that Paul Walker’s untimely death has. Hunger Games: MockingJay will be split into two parts, and Hoffman was set to reprise his role as gamesmaker Plutarch Heavensbee in both movies. The first part has already completed filming, but the second part still had 9 days to shoot with Hoffman. The studio then released a statement that it would be all sorted out, and both movies will release on the dates that have already been set. No word on just how they plan to shoot without Hoffman being present.

Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation,” read the studio’s official statement. “We’re very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip’s family.

Another bit of information regarding Hoffman’s death, is that police found 50 bags of heroin in his apartment. The guy had a serious addiction, which sucks that, that has to happen to such a gifted actor. Many actors and directors have expressed their sorrows over his death, claiming he was a sweet man, and great to work with. He leaves behind a girlfriend he had a 15 year relationship with, as well as 3 kids.
