You knew the LEGO Movie was going to win at the box office this weekend, and it did with a bang. The new animated movie raked in $69.1 million over the weekend, coming in second to Passion of the Christ for best opening weekend in February. The LEGO Movie cost $60 million to make and it won it all back with some change, so a sequel is already underway.

The Monuments Men got a strong start as well coming in second with $22.7 million. It cost $70 million to make so I am sure it will get its money back. Then we have the other newcomer this weekend. Vampire frickin Academy. The movie didn’t catch much of an audience over the weekend, coming in 7th with $4.1 million. You think Hollywood is going to finally realize that no one cares for these kind of movies any more? Of course not. We still have Divergent coming out later this year.
