James Gunn DCU Batman age talk is heating up after Gunn opened up about the new Dark Knight on the Suicide Squad “Is It Canon?” podcast. He says they haven’t cast him yet. of course. However, he did give us a big hint about the DCU Batman age, and it lines up with David Corenswet’s Superman.
What James Gunn Said About the DCU Batman Age
First, some context. Gunn hosted the podcast with Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee. Near the end, the talk turned to Batman. Gunn made it clear the DCU Batman “isn’t cast yet.” In addition, he said a lot of the rumors about Batman popping up in this or that project just aren’t true. Even so, he said casting “isn’t very far away.”
Everyone was thinking he would get a Batman more in his 40’s but now we have Jimmy here saying he is the same age as Superman. And that they will essentially be besties.
Why the DCU Batman Age Matters
A lot of fans expected an older, grizzled Bruce Wayne for The Brave and the Bold. If Batman is around Superman’s age, maybe the Damian concept won’t be a part of it, or they will lean into the more mystic side of the DCU, because of where Damian Wayne comes from.
Who Could Play the DCU Batman?
Of course, I’m not naming names here, because Gunn himself called out the guessing game. For fan castings, think about actors in Corenswet’s age range, not someone in their fifties. Also, let me know in the comments who you’d pick. Some say Brand Sklenar is out. Maybe he is, but people need to ignore the REAL ages of these actors.
