Taika Waititi critics drama is something to discuss, since he is my favorite director. You know that is not true at all. The Love & Thunder director is lashing out at critics. His new movie, Klara and the Sun, got the lowest Rotten Tomatoes rating he has ever received. He is not taking it well.
On top of the bad reviews, Klara and the Sun is bombing at the box office. Because of that, that is probably the real reason Taika Waititi is lashing out so hard. But we must admit that no one knew about this movie due to bad marketing.
In my latest video, I break down the whole quote as he calls critics failed artists and sad, lost souls.I also talk about things that I have heard about him, especially him while filming Thor: Love & Thunder.
Why Taika Waititi Critics Are Not the Real Problem
Critics are part of the deal in Hollywood. Some reviews are fair, others are harsh, and a few even feel personal. However, a Rotten Tomatoes number is only one snapshot of how a movie is landing. Ultimately, audiences decide for themselves, and right now they are not showing up for Klara and the Sun. You can read more about how that site works at Rotten Tomatoes.
Overall, this is also a good reminder about marketing. A strong trailer, a clear release plan, and honest talks with fans go a long way. When all of that is missing, a low score hits even harder. Sadly, that is exactly where Taika Waititi seems to be with this movie.
